we met in high school. outcasts seeking companions. inseparable friends finding consolation in literature and power in sorcery. we did not make good witches though. delving in magic was not our path. but everything has a purpose and the occult led us to our true calling. this calling became manifest in our freshman year at berkeley. we were auditing a graduate course on virginia woolf. she visited us in our apartment. we don't know why. it was she who imparted on us the gift of channeling the greatest literary minds of the past. every night she visited us she was wet with aquatic vegetation wreathing her hair and mud smeared on her clothes. after the first night that virginia appeared in our living room she said she would return. we were prepared this time. we laid out a tarp over the carpet so we would not have to steam-clean the rug all over again.

now we are elderly women. over these past 50-odd years we have channeled afterlife writing by the greatest authors of the western literary tradition. with the encouragement of august highland we made the difficult decision to publish the tens of thousands of pages that we have trancribed for over half a century. our lives have been devoted to literature in this world and in the afterworld. but there is one thing you need to understand about post-mortem telepathy. astral static interferes with the transmitted text. like a short-wave radio. or like our own thoughts as they run in a discontinous current through our minds. the disruptive static appearing throughout the transcriptions was the principle cause for our reservation about publishing our work. august highland won our trust though. his confirmations assured us that the works we have transcribed are unblemished by the atmospheric noise and are as immortal as the extant writings of the ageless masters who have dictated to us the post-mortem fiction which you are about to read.
